Rushing out of the door, but this is fresh off an online publication: “Several residential associations reject the controversial plans for a hotel in Katajanokka”.
It turns out that the “improved renderings” that were supposed to convince everyone that the right thing to do is to agree with the planners (on this blog earlier with links) actually strengthened the opposition.
Interesingly, the associations mentioned are from everywhere around the city: Katajanokkaseura, Kruununhaka-seura, Kruununhaan Asukasyhdistys, Töölö-Seura, Kumpula-seura, Siltasaariseura, Kulosaarelaiset – Brändöborna, Metropoliseura ja Pro Eira.
This spot is loved by everyone, its fate and future glory is everybody’s business, not just those in Helsinki but beyond. Even foreigners, I’d argue. In this case most of those who are raising their voices seem to be incredibly enlightened. To echo the chief planner, they think a lot like me…
