Our protagonist had been under the impression that the world was suffering the worst financial crisis for decades and just assumed that Finland was also affected. So she has been surprised to find Helsinki’s food and drink offering veering towards what she calls ‘hyper yuppie’.

No matter, as long as the waiters don’t interrupt her with long seminars on the food she is about to eat (which she ordered only a few moments earlier) she doesn’t mind taking her place alongside the ladies who may not do lunch but do certainly do do bubbly.
