A while back we blogged about the decision by Finland’s National Museum to close down the Museum of Cultures that’s been located for the past few years in the old Tennis Palatsi Building, jostling with pop-corn eaters and occasional blockbuster art exhibitions (by Finnish standards, you know what I mean). Well, actually, the collections aren’t being “closed down” but it would be extraordinarily sad if the museum were to downsize to the practically nothing that appears to be on offer.
And so some folks have even been active enough to start an online petition to save it. Here.
Meanwhile multicultural education in Helsinki is being outsourced to local artists and spiced with Helsinki World Design Capital-flavouring. Results can be read on a hoarding on the Senate Square:
